Power grid engineering and power electronics

Power grid engineering focuses on designing technology for the power grid to keep the electricity that powers modern life flowing to customers. It can also include improving sustainability to decarbonize the electric grid. Power electronics engineering focuses on designing devices that can convert electricity from one form into another form needed for a specific application, including in power grid equipment. ASU research in this area has included using smart meter data to improve power grid reliability and better integrating renewable electricity sources into the power grid.
