Tyler Marquez

Tyler Marquez began his education at Arizona State University in the fall of 2020. He graduated from Marcos De Niza High School, located near ASU’s Tempe campus. Throughout his time growing up, Tyler knew that ASU was his future college for any career path he chose. While he always had an interest in electronics and engineering, it wasn’t until Tyler built his first computer that he began to have an understanding of electrical hardware and decided to pursue its design as a career.

Tyler believes ASU to be his best choice for higher education thanks to its proximity to his home, having friends who also attend and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering’s highly-regarded engineering programs. His decision to go into ASU’s electrical engineering program was sealed upon receiving multiple scholarships, including one from the President Barack Obama Scholars Program and a Tempe Diablos scholarship.

In high school, Tyler was an active student involved in many extracurricular activities. As an active member of Fulton Schools Engineering Student Council, University Technology Office Technology Consultant and a Kyrene School District Minitown Camp Counselor, in college Tyler is continuing this trend of having many responsibilities outside of schoolwork.

Thanks to his academic achievements, Tyler was selected for the dean’s list for the Fall 2020 semester. He hopes to continue achieving academic excellence throughout his time at ASU. Tyler hopes that he will one day be eligible to join the computer engineering accelerated master’s program thanks to his outstanding academic achievements.

Tyler’s advice for students:

“Everyone has their skills and strengths. These strengths should also be used to cancel out your weaknesses. If you work hard and play smart, you can achieve anything.”
