Christian Polo

Christian Polo started his academic journey at ASU with an eager spirit for campus involvement. In high school, he did not participate in many organizations or clubs, but as an out-of-state student from California, Christian wanted to find communities within ASU.

As a Hispanic student in STEM, he has worked with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers to encourage minorities to pursue STEM career paths. He has also led collaboration among the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering’s diversity organizations to promote visibility and community among ASU minority students in engineering. Christian has also been actively involved in Sun Devil Motorsports.

His research in solar energy control systems has received funding from the Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative, ASU/NASA Space Grant and Barrett, the Honors College’s thesis funding program.

Christian has also been a Community Assistant with University Housing for three years serving the student communities in Adelphi Commons, Tooker House and Vista del Sol.

He graduated summa cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 2022 and received a Moeur Award and a Fulton Schools Impact Award. Christian is continuing at ASU in the accelerated master’s degree program to specialize in electronic and mixed signal circuit design.

Christian’s advice for students:

“Look through as many opportunities as you can find and pursue what interests you. On top of that, don’t be afraid to talk to professors, especially those involved in the pathways and research that interest you, because these conversations can be very insightful for opportunities that may lie ahead. Finally, make sure to use your time wisely, and don’t forget to enjoy your college experience!”
